The latest block of after schools activities with the Navan Schools Completion Programme finished up at the end of March. Nearly 70 children took part in this programme from Scoil Naomh Eoin, St. Oliver Plunkett NS, Scoil Mhuire & St. Anne’s Loreto Primary School.
This programme is a partnership between Meath LSP Community Sports Hub Navan & The Navan Schools Completion Programme, with Meath LSP coaches delivering the programme supported by Project workers who work with the children on a daily basis. This programmes takes place during homework club and is complementary to the academic side of homework club providing children with an opportunity to take part in sport and physical activity, try new sports they may not normally get to try, improve their communication and leadership skills and most importantly have fun. This programme continues to be successful every term, with participant numbers remaining consistent.
As a result of the programmes, project workers have reported higher attendances at homework clubs, greater levels of engagement in school and after school activities, children being interested in sports they previously were not interested in and greater levels of leadership among the group.
